To cultivate high-level professionals with expertise in applying modern biotechnology to marine resource development, conservation, and management.

Course Completion Requirements
  • Students must complete the required courses and credits specified by the department for graduation, selecting four courses from the above list and meeting all departmental assessment criteria.
  • The minimum graduation credit requirement for students directly admitted to the Ph.D. program is 30 credits.
  • Before graduation, students must complete one of the following professional required course groups:
    • A: Molecular Biology and Physiology Group
    • B: Biological Resources Group
    • C: Marine Chemistry and Natural Medicine Group
  • Language Proficiency Requirement: Please refer to Article 2 of the department's Ph.D. degree regulations.
  • Doctoral Dissertation Requirement: The dissertation must focus on marine science or its applications, and students must publish at least one SCI-indexed academic paper as the first author.
  • Research Ethics Course Requirement: Graduate students must complete the university’s Academic Research Ethics Education Course by the end of their first academic year. Students who fail to pass this course will not be eligible to apply for the degree examination.
  • Academic Participation Requirement: During their studies, Ph.D. students must participate in the department’s Columbus Award competition and present at least one academic paper at an external conference.
